Restore failure
-
How large is the config file you are uploading?
The RRD data is compressed these days, if the config was taken from a recent snapshot it shouldn't be that largeโฆ
-
the file is 630KB
-
Hmm, then it definitely shouldn't be running out of RAM.
If you don't mind, can you send a copy of that config file to me by PM or e-mail so I can test it?
-
No prob what's your e-mail

<my forum="" username=""><at>pfsense.org (I don't want spambots to pick up on it :-)</at></my>

Right I have figured it out the file was corrupt on the drive.
Thanks for you help
-
That would still be useful to see, if you can get the file off the drive. No restore should eat up all the RAM and if it fails in a way we can predict, we can protect against that error and fail gracefully.
-
When I uploaded it to the e-mail I saw it registered it as 50Megs.
-
That large wouldn't be unusual to fail. How old is that backup? The RRD data is compressed now, so it shouldn't be anywhere near that large.

Nope it just caught in a loop writing rubbish to the file. This was a machine error not pfsense.
