Squid problem after restore

  • i did a restore of my backuped up configuration and since then i have been unable to open up my proxy filter or proxy server (squid and squidguard) i have tried everything to removing the package to reinstalling the package and it always gets suck on this screen forever. anyone know a fix for my problem thanks!

also i have never had to to this yet but how do you go about updating a package? and how do you know when there is an update out?

    Thanks

  • You may have to re-install Squid, then Squidguard. If that don't work you can start fresh by restoring your config without packages, then re-install in the order above…..sometimes *hit breaks. You will have to manually enter all the fields again, but it will get you back up and running.

If it's really stuck, you might have to edit the squid package info out of the config backup before you restore it. Just the section with the package info, the menu, and service entries, not the settings themselves.

Yes it is stuck i left it on that page all weekend with no progress. what exactly do i need to do in the config file.

  • Not really sure what happened but today i clicked on the squid proxy server again and it poped up perfectly fine. Not sure what happened to make it work the only thing i can think of is that i rebooted my router last night. Cant complain just wanted to let you all know.

  • I have been running into problems when it comes to updating squid. I just install squid3, uninstall squid, uninstall squid3 install squid. Could be I just need to redo the FWs but it works for now, at least for me its not that big a deal.
