Configuring squid

how do i go about configuring squid guard can any one share their configs with me so that i can use it and work from there i had problems configuring it the first time
-
If your're talking about Squidguard..this tutorial will get you started.

nice tutorial is there a way that i can block certain sites eg WWW.jump.com or restrict access to the internet to all computer except for a few, i'm using transparent proxy since it seemed to be the fastest way to implement squid
-
You can add a blacklist or Whitelist in the destinations tab. Just add the sites you want to block or allow.
-
ok i dont think any traffic is passing through the proxy server because the sites i blocked can still be accessed i used transparent proxy since it seemed like the fastest way to setup only way it seems that computers are forwarded is if i enter the proxy server address into the web browser
-
You and i have the same problem then, i THINK that transparent proxy only filters normal port 80 ie HTTP
and not 443 HTTPS. Ill have to test this tonight.I dont want to configure the proxy settings on each computer either, because I have to install DHCP on
the network next week, which will defeat the purpose of "not having to go to each computer and configure
network settings manually" :/ -
https does not work with transparent mode. It can't, due to the way SSL security works.
As for configuring the proxy settings, have a look here:
