      "xmlrpcbaseurl" => "116.68.176.94",

      I'm trying to rebuild the ntop package from an updated 8.1-Release with updated src and ports as of Aug 14, 2010.

      the ntop is sane fresh from ports compile, with the correct lib version deps. Ive created the packages and all needed deps and tried pushing to pfsense via package manager.

      on console the ntop is working, but webgui unable to start the ntop.

      can someone help out please. also if can someone can fetch the package and install to their pfsense test bed.

      attached are the xml configs that i've edited to use the current deps.

      Regards

        It may be looking for the process name incorrectly, or any number of other issues.

        The one on the "official" package repo should also be compiled on 8.1-release from a recent set of ports.

        Also, there were no files attached on the message like you mentioned.

            If you're on 32-bit, try to reinstall the standard ntop now.

            If it's missing something, let me know what it is.

              You'll have to add /usr/local/lib/X11/fonts/URW
              to your X font path by either:

              $ xset fp+ /usr/local/lib/X11/fonts/URW
              $ xset fp rehash

              or by adding it to your X-server configuration file (usually
              /etc/X11/XF86Config) and restarting the X-server.

              Although libxcb can yield dramatic improvements in speed,
              memory footprint, and responsiveness, and will probably
              become the default Xlib for X.org/freedesktop.org, it is
              still experimental software.  Some broken callers will abort()
              on locking assertion failures.  As a temporary workaround, set
              LIBXCB_ALLOW_SLOPPY_LOCK in your environment to skip the abort().
              This may result in noisy stacktrace printing.

              ===============================================================================

              Gamin will only provide realtime notification of changes for at most n files,
              where n is the minimum value between (kern.maxfiles * 0.7) and
              (kern.maxfilesperproc - 200). Beyond that limit, files will be polled.

              If you often open several large folders with Nautilus, you might want to
              increase the kern.maxfiles tunable (you do not need to set
              kern.maxfilesperproc, since it is computed at boot time from kern.maxfiles).

              For a typical desktop, add the following line to /boot/loader.conf, then
              reboot the system:

              kern.maxfiles="25000"

              The behavior of gamin can be controlled via the various gaminrc files.
              See http://www.gnome.org/~veillard/gamin/config.html on how to create
              these files.  In particular, if you find gam_server is taking up too much
              CPU time polling for changes, something like the following may help
              in one of the gaminrc files:

              reduce polling frequency to once per 10 seconds

              for UFS file systems in order to lower CPU load

              fsset ufs poll 10

              WARNING:

              In the past, ntop has been the subject of repeated security vulner-
              abilities, particularly relating to its web interface.  It is strongly
              suggested that you protect your ntop web interface via packet filters
              or TCP wrappers.

              IPv6 isn't currently supported by the port.

                        function sync_package_ntop() { }

                is this executed once during installation, or everytime?

                how do you guys manifest /usr/local/etc/rc.d/ntop.sh    is this equivalent to /usr/local/etc/rc.d/ntop just moved to ntop.sh?

                can i insert the moving of /usr/local/etc/rc.d/ntop to /usr/local/etc/rc.d/ntop.sh viya sync_package_ntop() ?

                whats the correct way of doing this?

                Regards

                  That is run every time packages sync. Install time, boot time, anytime an interface's IP address changes, etc. It happens fairly often.

                  Usually a package's rc script (yes, it's like rc.d/ntop but with .sh on it) will get run at boot, or depending on how the package creator made the package, it may call the rc script from the sync function. It varies from package to package.

                    Hi,

                    I come across a similar issue with ntop.

                    I am running version 2.0-BETA5 on a test system and was looking at what report are available.

                    After installing ntop and configuring it will not run.
                    I had to install two additional library files.
                    pkg_add -r GeoIP and
                    pkg_add -r rrdtool
                    and still will not work.

                    I now get the following error:
                    /libexec/ld-elf.so.1: /usr/local/lib/librrd_th.so.2: unsupported file layout
                    when i try to start ntop.

                    any ideas.

                    Thanks
                    George  ;D
