Snort + 2.0 Beta 1

Okay, so I've spent a while on pfSense (VERY NICE!!) and there was one thing that kept getting to me.
That was the package of Snort.Now, there was only one BETA (BETA1) (this was before I knew there was BETA3 and BETA4) ( http://files.chi.pfsense.org/snapshots/FreeBSD_RELENG_8_1/i386/pfSense_HEAD/?C=M;O=D ). Now, in there I always go for LiveCD's, so there was only the BETA1 package.
Unknown that it was an older version, I tried it out. It ended up locking the util.etc file in one of the folders, and I had to re-install pfSense because of it.
Luckily, I mastered the installation and got it down to a quick 15min install. :DI am going to re-install pfSense (BETA4) tomorrow and see if that will fix my problem. I'm sure it will because I have had someone already test it for me, I just happen to get an older version of pfSense.
I am learning more and more about pfSense, and I can't get enough of it.
I have 2 houses (mom and dads…yeah, I still live with my parents) and at my dads I have 1 connection, and my moms I have 2 connections. At my moms, I'm going to try and build a network using 2 DHCP renew/release. Not sure it will work, but hey...it's learning right ;DI already understand the openVPN, NTD, and next I will tackle the Captive Portal (this one kind of scares me).
Watch my post, pfSense is my new hobby! Also, sorry about the random post...I get off-topic.
(Also, I'm only 18...I've got MUCH to learn! I'm going to teach my little brother how to do this, so maybe it will spark an interest in him.) -
Okay, after installing 2.0 BETA4, everything turned out great (just figured I should say something).
Hopefully this will save some people some headache. -
Just installed it yesterday trying it out for the local lan only to block p2p especially bittorent. Works REALLY nice. Great and easy interface! Thanks for this awesome work!
