PfSense 1.2.3 does not get an IP automaticly

  • Hi y'all :)

Since I got tired of waiting for pfSense 2, I installed 1.2.3 (nanoBSD) and now I've got a miniITX system with the IM-945GSE-A board working as a router. Before I put it in the place where my Asus WL500g Deluxe was, I gave pfSense the same settings and internal IP my 500g had, also I cloned the MAC address from the 500g. So this way everything should work right a way and all network devices should not be bothered by the change of router.

Everything looks okay, (besides my Senao/EnGenius ECB 3220 dying, not related to this) however, pfSense is somehow not able to get a WAN IPaddress through DHCP on it's own. Have to click release a couple of times at status_interfaces.php before it gets an IP.

The cable modem is an Arris TM702B, (Euro)DOCSIS 3, maybe some incompatibility issues or something?

    Log shows this:

  • If I recall correctly, some readers of this forum have reported that they have had better results using the dhclient program from FreeBSD 8. I suggest you search the forums for dhclient to see if your problem is "similar enough" to warrant trying the FreeBSD 8 dhclient.
