I'd like to get traffic statistics from my pfsense router and display the data in conky on my desktop.  I'm decent at scripting, the main problem is all the network traffic summary pages display their info in .pngs which I can't really proccess.  I'm going to see if I can find a way in BSD to get traffic info and then maybe write my own web page that anyone can access.  Any suggestions (or alternate methods) that can point me in the right direction will be greatly appreciated.

MRTG might be the way to go, however I only used MRTG with physical switch / SAN ports, and never NICs, but depends on your setup.

        Running pfSense on :
DL380G4 with ESX Vsphere and DL360G4p bare metal

A number of users have been successful using Cacti with pfSense as well.  Browse the forums for these threads if you're interested in doing this.
