      Hi folks,

      just curious, if i shut down the firewall of pfsense, will squid / and squid guard still function?

        I'm not sure, but may be transparent squid will not work.

          The best way to find out is to try it.

          As dvserg mentioned, the rules for the redirect used by the transparent proxy are part of the firewall (ipfw?), so it is doubtful that transparent proxy will work.
