      Hi guys,

I need a little assistance with my project.  I managed to have everything up and running using the NANO BSD image beautifully but last thing I want to accomplish is to be able to use the remaining 4 ports on this router.  The 4 extra ports are all visually seen in the interfaces tab and assigned them succesfully… opt1, opt2, etc.

How do I get these ports to be on the same LAN and be used normally (i.e. Linksys 4-port router)?  I attempted to attach all 4 extra nics as one big VLAN with parent ethernet as main LAN port but doesnt seem to work?

Can someone help me out please???

      thanks!
      JD

You need to bridge the extra ports to your LAN port (in the INterfaces menu for OPT1, OPT2 etc). And you may need to add some firewall rules on the non-LAN interfaces that are bridged to LAN to allow DHCP traffic.

It would be less load on the CPU to use a switch to provide the extra "LAN" ports, but, depending on your traffic patterns and what else you are doing on your box you may have plenty of CPU to spare.
