Running pfSense install on USB, settings?

Alright,
Ran pfSense liveCD on a USB stick and then choosed option "99" (Install pfSense to harddrive/portable device etc.).
Installed on another USB stick and is now running pfSense on that 1GB stick.
However, since its not the embedded version it aint that good for flash devices. But i need VGA output so I aint got any choice do I? :)
To my question, can you please help to configure this to run the most optimal for my setup. Since i dont want the USB to die within a month I want to disable as much writes to it as possible. I do not need any form of logs etc.
So, tell me what and how to turn the most of writes off :)
