The future of snort-inline.
-
I'm really looking forward to snort-inline as an IPS/IDS system in pfsense2, and I read that snort-inline will be included in pfsense2.
The snort-inline website states the project has been abandoned as the authors have moved to Suricata.
How does this affect the future of pfsense2 and snort-inline?
When is the estimated time for snort-inline to be included in the pfsense2 beta?
Thank you.

If snort-inline is going to be included in pfsense2, then I hope it can be disabled. I don't want only one IDS to be forced upon us, even if it is the de facto IDS.
I too would like to hear any responses about Suricata used with pfSense. It looks like a promising alternative to Snort, and I am going to try and implement it into my home pfSense configuration. If anyone else has any success or failure with this task, please post it in these forums.
To me, I don't like paying the idea of paying for Snort rules. That takes the "open source" tag away from it, and drops it squarely into the commercial community.

inline won't be included in 2.0.
