      Hi,

I once got a question about squid.

Pfsense squid and run as far as perfect as I want. Only one thing I get is not set by squid. What settings do I need to where and how, so that any downloads will be stored?

To understand: I invite you to sample down the DVD version of Knoppix. The first download takes longer naturgemass. Now, if another computer is downloading the same ISO file, this should be from the proxy cache squid made available. This way I get per se is not.

Desirable it when squid would be - if the cache size is enough - the data about two weeks to keep and then possibly extinct. The said machine is widely used server for LAN parties and invite as many if any updates at the same time from the Internet would be an appropriate number for the party almost over, until all were by software up to date.

Thank you in advance ever.  :)

      Greetings
      Yasmina

You just need to set the maximum object size large enough to handle ISOs or whatever else you want to keep in the cache.  The cache aging options are also worth reading up on.  All of this is found the the proxy section of the GUI.

also u can use refresh_pattern on specific extension for more longer stay in cache
to caching dvd size, i assume u have much disk …
ideally with squid we want performance beetween responsive and speed from squid it self
getting much cache but responsive slow, thats not good too ...

if u want, u can try lusca proxy package than squid, but thats not officially from pfsense dev ...
          my self use both ...
