PFSense + RADIUS + Traffic Counting
-
Hi Guys.
I hope I am posting this in the right spot, but I have been going through the forums and searching the net now for more than 3 months looking for a solution to my problem. I believe that pfsense is the right place / piece of software to build my solution on. Here is my problem.
I need a solution which I will be using to manage my ISP that Authenticates the user using a Radius server as well as does traffic accounting on that user.
It gets a bit more tricky in that I want certain traffic to not be counted towards the usage of the user. So, I want a user to be assigned for example, 1GB of usable traffic. But if he accesses anything within my private network, it must not get counted towards that 1GB, only when he connects to the internet must it be added.I believe a workable solution would be something like this.
Install pfsense with 3 Ethernet cards.
Set up one interface (Green) with connection to the internet (WAN)
Set up second interface (RED) where all the users connect in from (RADIUS)
Set up third interface (YELLOW) which has access to servers on my internal network which traffic does not get counted. Is there any way in which I can also add certain IP's so that it does not get added to their traffic usage?
I would appreciate any help, I am very desperate for a solution.
Kind Regards.
