      Hi,

i followed the docs but my E220 modem (Vodafone) can't connect. Some people get the E220 to work here. So is there a kind of howto?

The modem is recognized by u3g driver and i got 2 devices in Gui. But my ppp connection dont come up.

      Provider set
      SIM PIN set
      init strings dont set

"modem script failed after CPIN command"

      plz help me :)

      Cya

I would disable sim pin and test again.

        Do a search on E220

To get more hardware info some commands can be found in this post http://forum.pfsense.org/index.php/topic,27211.0.html

          Hi Perry,

you were right :D without PIN it works fine.

Is it possible to determine the network the modem is connected to (GPRS,UMTS,HSDPA)?

How to start a search on E220?

            Hi Perry

on some dongles or 3g-modems you have some LEDs blinking in different colors.
They represent GSM, EDGE or 3g.

            example:

" … rapid green blinks: Modem is powered -- no network available
Blinking green          : GPRS or EDGE available
            Blinking blue            : 3G network available "

              Hi,

are there some parameters to prevent the UMTS Modem to use other mobile networks?

I dont want my UMTS modem with vodafone sim dial to other networks than vodafone.
