      Hello Everyone,

I have been noticing a strange behaviour on two of my Alix2d13 boards that run pfSense 1.2.3 Release. If I do OpenVPN into the router or connect directly to the LAN port and try to browse to http://192.168.1.1:20003   (port 20003 is setup in General as my HTTPs port) then I get the SSL error which is fine:

The site's security certificate is not trusted!

I accept that and then it doesn't browse. It keeps waiting for 192.168.1.1 for ever. I tried this on many different browsers and different operating systems. The fault was resolved with rebooting the router yesterday but I see the same thing on another router now.

Has anyone experienced this? or shed some light on this behavior and how to track this bug down?

      Thanks

If you setup port 20003 as your HTTPS port shouldn't you be browsing to https://192.168.1.1:20003  rather than http://192.168.1.1:20003  ?

That was my typo. I did browse https but still the same. Now, I can confirm that this is a problem with another box that we just restarted and gained access too. I am wondering if the OpenVPN somehow misses the routing table but it's puzzling because the SSL error comes up and then it doesn't move forward to ask for password.

Further, the box was restarted and I got it in but there was a scrolling "Acknowledge" message up top right corner which I clicked and it disappeared without giving me further details. What is that? Where can I find it to read the acknowledgment? Is that some sort of RSS? or is it a problem related to internal hardware?

          Thanks,

You might need to search for https and openvpn in the forums.  I vaguely recall seeing some threads pertaining to openvpn clients having issues accessing HTTPS pages.

              Thanks for the input.

This is not only related to a VPN connection. As I mentioned, it also happens when directly accessing through the internet (I have a port opened for HTTPs) or if even trying to reach the box from internal LAN. Hence I doubt it's related to VPN at all. The router functions all right with every other aspect except for it's Web Server that times out.

Where are the logs for this behavior? /var/log/messages? /var/log/httpd/error-log?

              Thanks

Okay, this is not cool. Seems like a disease. It has spread out now to my other router on a different site that I was there today. One of the phones connect to a switch and then the Router lost it's IP and then I went to check the router and it's HTTPs is not responding. I did a telnet 192.168.0.1 20443 and it works fine and Escape Charecter comes on. All ports are fine. All functions are fine except for one device that lost it's IP. Once restarted it picked up the IP again but when I connected directly to the router I still couldn't browse the SSL GUI. Where are the logs for these types if misbehaves?

                Thanks
