Halt problem

  • I recently installed pfsense using hdd install . Everything went ok and it's up and running. The problem apear when i chose halt system. After powering up nothing seems to running. No ping, no gui  from client ???.

Please if someone could help me …..

  • Make sure that your BIOS is the latest and greatest version.

If this does not help, try disabling ACPI: http://wiki.pfsense.com/wikka.php?wakka=BootOptions

  • The server (AMD Athlon XP 2000+ , 256 SDRAM, HDD 20 GB) starts properly after the halt. The BSD also, no warnings and i get the menu. The problem is pfsense blocking everything.

Reboot is also OK, only the halt mess everything up. So everytime I must choose factory default and restore pfsense from a backup.

  • What version are we talking about?

  • Ver 1.0.1 LiveCd installed on HDD

Now I'm preparing an older PC to see if I get the same problem (PII 400, 128 SDRAM, HDD 4 GB). Maybe my PC is to strong for PFSense  :D.

  • It sounds to me like the config file isn't saved properly. When you reboot, the settings are erased…? You have to save the config file to a usb thumb drive or HD or floppy or something otherwise when you reboot it's got default settings again.

  • Problem solved. The other PC works perfectly.
I don't know what was the problem with the first one.
