Make sure that your BIOS is the latest and greatest version.

If this does not help, try disabling ACPI: http://wiki.pfsense.com/wikka.php?wakka=BootOptions

The server (AMD Athlon XP 2000+ , 256 SDRAM, HDD 20 GB) starts properly after the halt. The BSD also, no warnings and i get the menu. The problem is pfsense blocking everything.

Reboot is also OK, only the halt mess everything up. So everytime I must choose factory default and restore pfsense from a backup.

Ver 1.0.1 LiveCd installed on HDD

Now I'm preparing an older PC to see if I get the same problem (PII 400, 128 SDRAM, HDD 4 GB). Maybe my PC is to strong for PFSense  :D.

It sounds to me like the config file isn't saved properly. When you reboot, the settings are erased…? You have to save the config file to a usb thumb drive or HD or floppy or something otherwise when you reboot it's got default settings again.

Problem solved. The other PC works perfectly.
I don't know what was the problem with the first one.
