      Hey Everyone,

Im trying to understand how the packages work in pfSense. Specifically I am need help with squidGuard. It seems all packages keep their configuration within pfSense's main config.xml? (As well as their own individual xml files?) Is this so? What if my package has 1 millions settings? Does that mean the main pfSense config has to become bloated with this also?

In a nut shell, I have squid & squidGuard on another non-pfSense box I want to move it onto my pfSense box but if I copy the squidGuard.conf across thats no good because the squidGuard.conf on my pfSense box isn't linked .xml GUI config files, the settings differ and don't take effect? It seems you have to add entries into domain categories for example through the pfSense GUI but this seems silly to me. Our existing squid & squidGuard box has 3.3 millions entries in 101 categories, I physically can't copy them into the pfSense GUI, I've tried! Each domain category is took large to paste in and it falls over…

Is there anyway I can separate the squidGuard package from the GUI settings?
