Loading Diagnostics : ARP Table takes over 1 minute?
-
Since a while loading the ARP Table in Diagnostics takes more than a minute and it shows:
_Diagnostics: ARP TableLoading, please wait…_
What can cause this? This is on the latest build from the 11th on November, but it doesn´t happen on my home router with the same HW and build where the loading is instant.
Thanks,

I saw this once the other day, but couldn't reproduce it to track it down.
You could look at the output of "arp -a" from Diagnostics > Command, see if that loads fast.

No, it´s just as slow as doing it through the GUI. Took about 60 seconds to get the result.

What about "arp -na"?
That would make it forego using hostnames and only print IPs
-
Yepp, that was instant.
Is there anything that can be done do make it quicker. I had several workstations that gets static DHCP leases from pfsense that wasn´t showing, but not they are when I enabled them to be registred in the DNS forwarder service. But we also got several servers that have "hard coded" IP´s where the name doesn´t show.

That's coming straight from the OS, if it's slow coming back on Diagnostics > Command, it will be slow on the ARP page.
How many entries were in the arp table? If it's taking that long to come up, it would have to be due to a bunch of DNS requests timing out, unreachable or slow DNS servers, etc.
The hosts from DHCP may not show up in the ARP table if they haven't tried to talk to/through the router in a while. If you want the static IP hostnames to show up, add them as DNS host override entries int the DNS forwarder.

I´m stupid! I should have checked some other things first. For some reason our ISP´s primary DNS server is down, removing it and re-booting made the response instant again.
Sorry for wasting your time. :-[
