… I'm by no means a security expert.. but I've never had trouble setting up a simple NAT record before.

      Latest build of PFsense:

Created a regular NAT to forward SSH... yet it doesn't seem to work...

      WAN  TCP  *  *  WAN address  22 (SSH)  192.168.1.5  22 (SSH)

I'm sitting on the LAN leg and then try to ssh to my outside domain name, to test it.. and the connection never goes through?

      What's wrong here?

By default, any rules only apply to the interface you select.  When you try to connect to it from your local network, it comes in on LAN, not on WAN.  If you really want to test to see if it is working right, you need to test it from outside your network.
