I have same problem and  I get same error:

        Downloading package configuration file… done.
        Saving updated package information... done.
Downloading squid and its dependencies... done.
Checking for successful package installation... failed!

        Installation aborted.

This also happens when I try to install imspector. I tried installing Cron and FileManager and they've installed without problems.

        Any ideas whats going on?

        P.S.
        I have pfsense 1.2.3

          Can you try this again?

The package server was on the fritz so it was switched to a different mirror and we had to rebuild a significant amount of the package binaries.
