      Hello all,

Quick question. I have pfSense set up and working. pfSense is connected to a 2Wire uverse router via the DMZ configuration.

I initally assigned a 172.16.x.x address to the pfSense WAN interface so I could "talk" to the 2Wire.

Well, 2Wire noticed I had a router conected to it and up popped an auto-config page. The 2Wire was put into DMZ mode and it assigned the pfSense WAN interface it's 99.x.x.x address. I looked on the 2Wire device "Status" page and it looks like pfSense is also using a 172.16.x.x address. So the WAN interface is somehow using 99.x.x.x and 172.16.x.x???

My question is this normal for two IP addresses to be assigned to the pfSense WAN? And if the 172.16.x.x is not needed, how can I remove it? I can't seem to find anything in the pfSense configuration page related to a 172.16.x.x address.

Thanks in advance for the help.

        Hi

The 2wire routers are quite unique in the way they setup their interfaces, I have a BT (UK) supplied 2700HGV with a /29 subnet. My lan port on this router is bridged with the class A public to class C private and this is the ONLY way I can access the config web server, if I allow it in pfSense. My provider also has remote access to the router. Hope this helps in some way.

        Best regards

For the uVerse 2Wire routers yuo have to have the WAN connected to the 2Wire DMZ set up as DHCP, which is sounds like you did.

pfsense also can manage multiple Vlans on a single NIC.

Look in your interfaces to see if there is a vlan with the 172 set up on that nic
