I had to change the config file to force full duplex.  I did and then I lost access to gui and this error msg started to appear.
Even at the console, I get that error msg.  I tried to reset to factory defaults but it won't go through because of that error message.

      I do have shell access…

What should be my next step ?

Use viconfig (or vi /conf/config.xml) and remove the extra <media>…</media> line, or fix a broken tag if there is one. Either <media>was specified more than once or perhaps it wasn't closed properly (e.g. <media>again instead of</media> )</media>

The same instructions apply, though you may need to run /etc/rc.conf_mount_rw first.
