Diagnostics: DHCP leases: Status
-
Hello!
Could anybody say me how it works Status column at [Diagnostics] [DHCP leases] ?
I'm working with 1.2.3-RELEASE.
I have static DHCP mappings working without problems. But most of them show offline status for machines that are online.
Wich is the test done by pfSense for having online or offline status?

If I recall correctly, on that page a system is marked Online if there is an ARP entry for it, which there will be if pfSense has conversed with it "recently enough".

Ok, thanks, it seems logic…
But if pfSense had recentlly send the dhcp values to a machine, why the status is offline ?
Is it perhaps VLAN related? I have this trouble with all the machines connected to one VLAN. For others, status seems to be good.

DHCP info isn't enough to be online in some cases, as that is broadcast traffic.
It's as simple as wallabybob stated before:
If it's in the ARP table, it's considered online
If it's not in the ARP table, it's considered offline

Ok, thanks!
