When I try to ping server.domain.com, it attempts to resolve the internet address.
Before I setup pfSense and set the DHCPd server to use the pfSense server as the router, it would resolve to the LAN IP of the actual server (because of the /etc/aliases file).

How do I do this so that when I ping servera.domain.com, it will resolve to the LAN IP I set for this alias in pfSense?

Hmm, it's not working. Any idea why? :?

When I ping servera.domain.com, it's actually asking domain.com (on the internet) for the IP from its DNS records.

EDIT: Ok, ok! I got it working. I did everything right, nothing was wrong. The reason "it wasn't working" was because my laptop isn't joined to the domain company.com (or domain.com), as are all the workstations here. If I ping from a workstation (being joined to the domain), it resolves to the correct LAN IP address that I am wanting it to resolve to.

You may need multiple overrides for variations of the domain.
