Hi There,

How does pfsense detect whether or not a pool server has gone down? Does it just ICMP (Ping) or does it try and connect to the service port?

So for example, let's say my SMTP MTA crashed, but the kernel was still running…

You can choose the monitor type for the load balancer entries (TCP or ICMP, I think, there may be more)
