Using full CF capacity
-
Alix and I use a compact flash 8GB ridata. Now running with 4GB MonoBSD imageg. what I want to use the maximum disk?
-
You can't expand the CF images to use larger space. They are fixed-size images.
-
Can't you just add a partition in the remaining space and mount it?
-
You could, but you'd have to be really careful when you alter the partitions on the CF to not mess up the existing structure.
-
Would it be BAD if 8GB CF is used with the 4gb nanobsd image? Without any modifications whatsoever. Or is it simply waste of space and no any other disadvantage?
Thanks

I'm running the 1GB image on a 4GB card no problems.
The ware leveling on the card still has more space to work with. Not that it needs it! ::)Steve

The smaller the image you use the faster updates can be completed. The smaller the image you use the more room the card's controller has for wear-leveling. I'd actually recommend against the 4GB image if unless you need it or have a really fast card.
