I think that is a bug.
Do you confirm?Captive portal works correctly only with server radius?

I installed the captive portal and it works great … v2 beta 5 snapshot 23 Feb 2011 on Dell GX620
I do have the proxy set as transparant.
the clients get a pop-up window where they can authenticate. I am also using local user authentication.Philip

Same issue here - 2.0-BETA5 (i386) built on Thu Feb 24 17:17:04 EST 2011
I have to manually go to http://firewallIP:8000/ to see the captive portal page and get authenticated.
Has a bug been filed for this?

It works fine for me, and many others who test it.
If you are getting a config error for lighttpd, post the file it mentions here (copy and paste into a post inside a code block, or attach it) so we can see what kind of configuration error has led to an invalid file.
