PfSense @ KINO-9453-R11 (BCM5787M)
-
Hi
I found this ITX Board out there and would like to know if anybody has used it or if anyone has testes pfSense with the Ethernet chipset used on it.
Here is the link of the Datasheet:

FreeBSD says that the chip is not supported but I'm not sure if this is correct because I found one article in this forum in which this chipset is mentioned.

The BCM5787 is not mentioned in the supported hardware list for FreeBSD 8.2. I suspect this means that it is not known if FreeBSD works with this device (or the list is out of date) rather than this device is known to not work.
http://forum.pfsense.org/index.php/topic,9850.0.html reports that someone had the FreeBSD 6.3 bge driver report a BCM5754/5787 NIC and BCM5787 PHY so it would appear pfSense 1.2.3 or later will recognise the NICs on that board.
Maybe another reader has a board with such NICs and report from personal experience.

Well, I think I will have a try on the system and will post if it works and if so how stable it will be.
The problem is that I have an internet connection that hat about 100 Mbit downstream and 5 Mbit upstream which means I need preatty fast hardware. I thought of using this ITX board with core2duo and 2 gb ram.
has someone made experiences with highspeed internet connections using ITX boards and pfSense or M0n0wall ?

Just curios if you had any luck with pfsense and this hardware, was thinking about doing the same install.

this also looks interesting …broadcom NIC's though........

4x Broadcom BCM5787M PCIe GbE chipsets
If that chipset works this could be a very interesting board - especially installed in the T1200 dual mini itx 1 U rack mount case ($225.00 USD) With this you could build a redundant PF setup.
