Pppoe reconnect issues
-
from the past month or so it seems the pppoe reconnect issue has started to happen again. if i pull the wan plug or if the connection resets from the isp then pfsense isnt able to reconnect at all, same is the situation even if u try to go to interfaces and manually click the connect button, it just doesnt reconenct and the only solution is to restart the box.
when the wan connection resets the below is the log when pf tries reconnect

am i only the one or what because old snaps dont have this issue coz it was fixed but i guess recent changes have made this issue popup again, at least for me.

do a search ;)
i've had major issues with pppoe and ppp reconnects.
I haven't tried any snapshots in the last week though.
Am currently trialing vyatta on the same hardware with no issues whatsoever so I suspect it is something to do with pfsense.
I'll get enthused again soon and have another go at it as I'd much prefer the user interface on pfsense. -
Same issue here on 4/7 build, halp?
-
Can you guys revert to the 4-1 build? Im using that with no problems connecting using that one…
Id try the latest build but that box is remote so Id have to wait till tomorrow...

nano or full?
I've been using the nano version.
will give the 4/1 nano build a try when I get back to the office later today. and i'll dig up a hd and try the full build -
Full.

i was using the 4/1 nano build and have just spent a couple of hours playing with the 4/7 full build.
no success.
the symptoms I see are several initial attempts to connect. if it fails at this stage it never reconnects. just keeps on retrying over and over. -
I had helluva time with PPPoE in 2.0 but finally figured it all out:

I suspect the config files the admin writes are F'd up with stray/corrupt settings so the daemon freaks & gives odd logging. Once it does it I've had to start over as no amount of changing settings in existing PPP profiles seemed to help. Plus it seemed once one was messed up (I have 3 wans, 2 are PPPoE other is static) none worked right. The 1st few times it happened the way I ended up 'fixing' was reinstalling pfsense fresh (PITFA for sure) but later I found deleting & creating over after reboot (as described in above post) did the trick for me. YMMV of course, just sharing what I found over many many hours of frustration.I've had it happen on nano & full so doesn't seem restricted to just one build.
