      I have 2x PFSense boxes that will be connected to 2 separate switches on the LAN side.

      My plan was to setup CARP on the WAN and LAN sides.  My question is what happens if the LAN fails?  Will the WAN interface move to the other box too?

      I am new to CARP; I thought it worked so that if any single CARP interface fails, all the CARP interfaces move over.  Am I right in this assumption?

        Yes, if you have CARP setup properly, if any one interface fails, the box will cut over to the secondary.
