    Hello,

Last night I finally took the plunge and upgraded to PFsense 2.0 RC1. Everything is great except for this new beep for logins.

I am used to the startup and shutdown beep which is fine with me (since it doesnt happen often). However now once I log into the webgui wheather sucessful or not a message is logged on the console and the system gives a very loud and annoying beep.

Is there anyway to just disable the beeps for the webgui login? I have searched and see that there is a beep.sh script that you can comment lines out of but I dont want all beeps gone just the one that deals with the webgui login.

    Thanks for your help.

      This is a "feature".

I disconnect the speaker wire and no more annoying beeps…..  :D

Yeah well my speaker is integrated on the motherboard. I wish someone would just add an option to turn off certain beeps for certain parts.

I'm glad it beeps, and I'm glad it's not easy to turn off. This way, if I hear a beep and I'm not actively logging in, I know there's an issue with the system, which means yank the plug before I have a security problem….

You can disable logging of successful logins, that's the only way. System>Advanced "Disable webConfigurator successful logins". not really intended to disable the beep, more for scenarios where you have a monitoring script that logs into one of the pages and don't want your logs completely filled with successful logins.

If accessible, snip the wire on the speaker.  If not accessible, maybe there is a hole in it and you can drop a drip of thick honey consistency glue.  Polyurethane (e.g. gorilla glue) would be good because they are moisture cure, and foam up as they cure.  It will expand and hold much of the diaphragm solid.  I expect that you will still hear a noise if you are close enough.
