Two gateways on a subnet

Hi, I have a routing problem with a network that we had to "import" to our pfsense configuration. Long story short, we would need to be able to route all WAN traffic through the imported networks old gateway but all internal traffic(other LANs handled by pfsense) through pfsense. The old gateway has ip xxx.xxx.xxx.1 and pfsense has a CARP virtual ip of xxx.xxx.xxx.22 on the same LAN. I see nothing happening if I make a policy routing rule on the interface, the network still uses its default gateway for all traffic.
