      Hi Everyone,

Just noticed a scrolling bar notifying me of Auto Updates. I tried to "invoke" update and it downloaded but then failed with this message:

This image is not digitally signed.
Update cannot continue.  You can disable this check on the Updater Settings tab.

1- Since, I am looking to upgrade all my 1.2.3 versions to 2.0RC1 soon, can someone please what the update policy is?
2- How safe it is and how it is best to be done?
3- What is with the digital signatures?
4- Going forward what is the official re recommended way to update?
5- Is it safe to update unit while in operation?
6- Is it safe to think that NOTHING will go wrong with update and are the update Full Proof and tested heavily in-case one wants to update a unit that is 1000 miles away from us?

      Thanks

Your question (3) has been covered many times here - a quick search should find you more. In short, that's the nature of the development builds and you shouldn't worry about it.

As for (6), something can always go wrong. It could be a local power failure, hardware that doesn't work with 2.0 or any number of other things. I'd only consider a remote upgrade if you've already tested identical hardware and have somebody relatively close you can call on if something goes wrong.

1000 miles? Just always use 2 routers, one as backup for remote management.
If this is a REALLY server it should has Remote Access card, like Dell PowerEdge or Fujitsu-Siemens Primergy has, and public IP reserved for this management card.

It's RC status not a stable release so you have to expect problems.
Yes it is "safe" to run the update on a live system but end users will experience disconnection while it reboots.
I can't comment on other hardware but the use of remote management on HP servers will not allow the media to mount correctly. I'm not sure why as it will mount both Current and Release versions of FreeBSD.

Never underestimate the power of human stupidity
