      When installing the open-VM-tools on an pfSense installed on VMware ESX 4.1 the installer process ends with the following error;
      Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_VARIABLE in /usr/local/pkg/open-vm-tools.inc on line 23

      After rebooting the pfSense the system becomes unusable.

      Anyone with the same issue?

      Regards.

        Fixed it by installing vmware-tools manualy.

        Use the vmware-tools from VMware server.

            Reinstall the package in about 5 minutes, the syntax error should be fixed.
