      Hello all,

I am installing pfSense on a Dell R310 but getting stuck after I assigned an interface for LAN & WAN. FYI, the Dell R310 has an Intel PCI with 4 ports (igb0-igb4) and 2 on board ports (bce0-bce1). I gave LAN igb0 and WAN bce0. The line "writing configuration" appears after I finished assigning the interface. However, it's just stuck there and doesn't show anything else afterward. Another FYI, I disabled all multicore features, including virtualization before installing. Also, the version I'm using is pfSense-2.0-RC1-i386-20110226-1530.iso.gz according to pfSense web's site.

      Thank for your help,

      -K

I know this doesn't help.  But, I had the same problem with similarly configured Dell R410 & R510

try both interfaces as either the broadcom or the intel so you can rule out one or both nic brands as the culprit.  if one or the other works,
          just load and go…

it's probably some kind of driver issue … you could also check the freebsd forums if you can't find an anwer here.

I have somewhat the same setup dell R310 / intel 2-port nic running flawlessly on top of Esxi
This has little performance impact, is free and gives you the ability to use the same box for multiple things if wanted.

Virtualization with ESX is good workaround for those driver issues.  E1000 nic is venerable.  vxnet2 better if you can get it to work as
                it utilizes hardware virtualization.

                  hi

i'm having the same problems at the moment, even with the RC3
is there a chance that this could solve with the final release?

virtualisation is the last thing i would do if necessary

                  tia
