I am running a pfsense box based on a supermicro Mini-ITX Atom board (D510).

I decided to update pfsense from 2.0 BETA4 to 2.0 RC1, since I had read it was released.  I did the update, it ended up updating to RC2 built today.  Once the system was back up, I have an odd problem.  I can route through the pfsense box just fine, but the box itself can not resolve DNS.  I had done a backup before the upgrade, just in case something like this happened.

I restored it, and still don't have DNS resolution on the pfsense box.

Both the box, and my system are set to resolve from 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 (Google's primary and secondary free nameservers.)

My box resolves DNS without issue, but pfsense acts like it is blocking itself from DNS queries.  I've checked the logs and found nothing.  Is this a quirk?  Is there something I need to enable that is new to RC2?

Just seems weird that everything is OK, but now pfsense can't resolve DNS.

This is the 32-bit version of pfsense.

*EDIT:  Looks like the issue was that during the upgrade "Default gateway" was unchecked on my default route.  With no default gateway, pfsense couldn't figure out how to get to the DNS servers.

      RESOLVED

You might want to update the title of the post and add [FIXED] or [RESOLVED]. Makes it easier on everyone. ;)
