In an attempt to conserve small amounts of power here and there, which is proving to be one hell of a task, I'm attempting to move any OS which requires a small footprint, such as that of PFsense from the HDD to a flash drive.

I have a small amount of experience under CLI, I'd imagine if I were more fluent, I'd be able to do this easily, but after trying several things, I've come to no avail.

Does anyone know a simple way to move the entire PFsense install from the HDD to a flash drive?

      Thanks!

        What sort of flash drive?
        Are you running any packages?
        Which version of pfSense?

If you are talking CF card in an IDE adapter then I would…
Backup your config.xml file from your full install.
Flash your new card with a NanoBSD image.
Start your box and then restore your config file.

I would go the same way.

Store my config, install on new drive, restore config.
          easiest way. :)

Yep.  Backup settings, fresh install, reinstall packages, upload settings, Ta-Daa!
