How do i setup my WAN with a Cisco 2811 and DSU/CSU
-
Not sure if this is the right forum, but ill try here first.
Ill try and explain the best i can. I dont understand much about IPs, WAN, DNS, all this..
I have an internet connection into my building, which goes into 2 big modem type devices, i think they are called DSU/CSU, which are connected 1 each to 2 WIC's on a Cisco 2811 router. The router has 2 ports on the back, 1 has been condigured with a NAT for my local area network 192.168.1.0/24
The other port, if i plug my laptop in there, to get Internet i need to put STATIC ip's into my LAN COnnection (TCP/IP)
I want to install this pfSense box i have build, to no longer need to use the NAT on the Cisco, cause i have been told that due to lack of memory on the Cisco, it will have problems one i start getting alot of traffic going through it. So my plan is to use the pfSense to do all NATTING and plug this into the other port on the Cisco, the one without the NAT.
My question is how do i setup the WAN on the pfSense box for this? I am a little confused as to what IP's and all that to use, and i want to be able to externally access my network via VPN. I dont get access to Cisco, so to di this, do i need anything at all setup on the cisco? how can i VPN in and have it go directly to my pfSense box where the VPN connection will be?
Sorry for all the little questions, just trying to get my head around this.
Thanks in advance!!
