PfSense 2.0 RC1 Embedded Not booting, help??
-
Hi.
I Have an old thin client I want to use as an router.
This thin client has an Via 1GHz CPU and 512MB DDR-SO-Dimm RAM and a 2GB CF card (from an old and broken car GPS).
It also has an pci port, and a pcmcia slot, so I need to buy a GBit card and a WLAN card for it, since it just have a 10/100MBit onboard nic.But over to the real problem..
I put the CF card into another computer and installed "pfSense-2.0-RC1-2g-i386-20110226-1633-nanobsd.img.gz" image with the command: physdiskwrite -u pfSense-2.0-RC1-2g-i386-20110226-1633-nanobsd.img.gz
And it installed just fine :)Then I put the card back into the thin client, and it boots up, and just stops after this line: "BTX loader 1.00 BTX version is 1.02"
Then I tried to install mOnOwall instead, and that boots just fine, so.. What can the problem be?? -
Where are you looking to see that output?
The nanoBSD images use serial console for their output. It sounds like it switched to serial console and you're still looking at vga. It may be booting up normally you're just not seeing it.Steve

Ok, did not think about that.. hehe
Then I will try to se if I can get some output from serial port next week, since I'm not home this week.Is it possible to change it back so it outputs to VGA, and still run the embedded image?
The thin client has both VGA and serial port. -
Not easily from the nanobsd images.
However Hacom have some pre-modified images for their own hardware which have both VGA and serial output.
You could try one of these: http://www.hacom.net/kb/pfsense-2-rc1Steve
