Hear Reboot Sound - But No Reboot [SOLVED]
-
I just built a new machine for my firewall. I am using a Supermicro X7SPA-HF (Atom D510, ICHR9, Built in IPMI 2.0). I am running pfSense 2.0-RC2 (amd64) built on Tue May 31 12:13:03 EDT 2011.
Strange thing is if I issue a reboot or halt from the pfSense webGUI / or from the redirected console via IPMI - The box plays the "shutdown" sound but never actually shutsdown or reboots. PfSense keeps working like nothing has happened. I have to issue a reboot or powerdown from the IPMI webpage to get the machine to restart or shutdown. I then see on reboot that the system experienced a hard shutdown.
Any ideas what could cause this? Is this some kind of incompatability with the IPMI on the motherboard (I really don't understand exactly how the IPMI affects the machine). Would switching to the x86 build help?
Thanks,

Switched to x86 build of pfSense and problem is gone… Must have been a driver issue, I guess...

There was an issue with a few snapshots that had a problem rebooting when trying to stop packages. You probably caught one of those and may not have had a hardware/driver issue. Might be worth trying an amd64 snapshot again.
