OpenVPN presistant tunnel - How often is a connection checked?
-
Hi everyone,
I want to know if there is a parameter on both the SERVER side and the CLIENT side to retry OpenVPN connection if it breaks. I know of "persist-key" and "persist-tun" but it doesn't tell me how many seconds it takes to try a connection or a re-connection.
Do I even need that? I guess if someone can explain OpenVPN technology connection part to
Thanks

# The keepalive directive causes ping-like # messages to be sent back and forth over # the link so that each side knows when # the other side has gone down. # Ping every 10 seconds, assume that remote # peer is down if no ping received during # a 120 second time period. keepalive 10 120

Thanks for that.
To complicate this, is there any feature within OpenVPN that would allow me to run a script if a PING is responded? Say something that would alarm me in time to check the issue?
Thanks
