We added another store to our network of pfSense-driven locations and wanted to try pfSense 2.0 RC3 with dual WAN and five other interfaces to isolate traffic on distinct subnets. We used one alias within a rule for SIP traffic only going to our ITSP. The configuration worked well for five days and then the day before the grand opening it starting freezing completely in the afternoon, not even serial port access. This is on a Soekris 5501 with a VPN card and a four port NIC all from Soekris. We could not identify the problem, but it happened repeatedly and quickly. We went to the latest RC3 update from July 4 and we also tried falling back to RC2, but no stability. Finally rebuilt the whole thing early this morning on 1.2.3 and got the store open on time.

The latest 2.0 is no July 4. Check the sticky post on this board.

I haven't seen any lockups like that in quite some time. Not since before RC1. What you describe is fairly simple/straightforward, so there must be something else involved there that hasn't been mentioned. (Packages, carp, etc, etc)

We actually had a lock up with 1.2.3 now on Monday. Must be something either with the hardware or with the configuration. We are wondering if it my be the VPN card.

That's is more likely. Should be easy enough to yank the card and test without it.
