      Hi,

i'm new to pfsense and not use to setup a firewall but i need help from you all to help me figure this out using your experience using pfsense.

      the situation is:

"Right now my rent house have 10 people (student) that using wireless so i need to setup a pfsense at my house for my project without disturbing internet connectivity for the 10 user. were are using Innocom wireless modem router that dial for internet and give wireless network in our house."

I have a Pfsense 2.0 RC3 latest update install and have 2 NIC installed for WAN and LAN.

      The Questions is :

Wireless Modem Router >> Pfsense >>LAN (10 User)

      1. i'm thinking, if the Wireless Modem router already use as a modem and connect to the pfsense, how can i set the wireless modem router to give AP to all user in my house by go thru pfsense first??..is this possible??

      2. Or i have to put another Wireless AP that will give AP??in other way just use the Wireless modem router as a modem and get the second wireless AP just to give wireless network to my house??

Wireless Modem Router >> Pfsense >>new wireless router>>LAN (10 User)

I hope this could give you view about what im trying to do

      Thanks in advance :)

If you want pfSense to protect all clients on the network the AP needs to be after pfSense or a part of it. The modem needs to be put in bridged mode (if possible) to make it easier.

So the connection will go thru modem then pfsense after that connect back to the Modem( that can be used as AP)??is that right?..

you should not use ap in modem, you should have wireless nic in pfsense or other ap device after pfsense to get that desired protection
