I've used it on a GX270 I believe. It's an older system but it works….

Mhhhh I just bought two 745 and 1 GX520 for 25 dollars each so I am going to see if I can run pfsense on them. Worst case scenario they will become freenas systems.

            Thanks for the reply guys.

I have used one of those in the past, I forget the exact model. It died an untimely death thanks to a bunch of busted capacitors, but when it did work it worked very well.

                jimp,

Thats what I am afraid off! This systems are very popular for there capacitors going out…. I am thinking of just shelling out the money and building me another alix..... Only problem is that I need more memory....

Any small form factor systems that any body recommend?

There are some sff atom boxes around. Some from Lanner, some from custom shops, etc. Soekris has one coming out. There is also the fit-pc2.

Looks ok, but you'll need a second NIC on that unless you're using VLANs. You might search the forum for foxconn, I seem to recall a couple of somewhat negative experiences. I might be getting them mixed up with someone else though.

                        jimp,

Thanks for the info…. It seems that foxcon does have some issues...

I am just going with one of this...

I had pfsense installed in a dell optiplex gx260 for my home network and it ran perfectly. Was quiet and also had 0 problems. Had on on board gigabit intel nic and I had a spare dual port gigabit card lieing around that I threw into it.

Just wanted to post that I installed pfsense successfully on a Dell GX520.
Running like a champ. Hopefully it will run ok down the road.

Those Dell boxes are great platforms - cheap, easy to fix, easy parts, etc.

Why not buy two and keep them side-by-side "just incase"??

I was thinking of that. I am not sure if they have any more left though….
