Unbound issue with HUP signals being sent from DHCP lease registration program
-
As per Jim's advice in this thread, I'm starting a new topic here…
My logs are filling up with the error:
dhcpleases: Could not deliver signal HUP to process because its pidfile does not exist, No such process. The problem with dhcpleases was fixed long ago - what you are seeing is an issue with running unbound, and should be in a new thread.
Not sure how that one will be worked around. The DHCP lease registration program is trying to signal dnsmasq about the update but since you're running unbound and not dnsmasq, it can't send a HUP signal.
The easy way would be to have unbound write its pid file to what dnsmasq was using (presuming that the DNS forwarder is disabled when unbound is on).
This is more of just a heads up for you Warren…. if there's anything I can do or anything you recommend I try I'm completely willing to give it a shot.
Here is a glimpse at my current setup:
**2.1-DEVELOPMENT (i386)

thank you!
If you need anything on my end, just let me know.
-
apologies for the delay. I have done a fix for this, so just update your package.
-
no worries at all… thank you for doing it!
will test in a bit.
-
Just FYI… I updated my Unbound package, but am still getting the HUP errors in syslog.
Is there anything else you would like me to try?
-
I have the same issue. Ill be more than glad to help out and test.
Thank you for an awesome pkg wagonza.

Hrmm ok, ill take a further look into it. I dont make use of dhcpleases and figured i would try fix and hope for the best :) but apparently that was a mistake. Let me setup something this side and will let you know.
Btw i have updated the package to 1.4.13 and added support for IPv6 ACLs if you make use of the IPv6 codebase.

Thank you very much wagonza!

Ok problem should be fixed - let me know if all is ok.

dhcpleases: Could not deliver signal HUP to process because its pidfile does not exist, No such process.

Hrmm i cant replicate the issue and i can see dhcpleases doing the HUP. You sure you on the latest version unbound?

so far so good for me as well… normally by now I would have a screen full of HUP errors.
Thanks Warren!
