I am a very satisfied customer planning to upgrade from 1.2.3 to 2.0 on my Intel 386 based router.
I am trying to follow the instructions to the letter, but bumped into this problem:

When I download and save 'pfSense-Full-Update-2.0-RELEASE-i386.tgz' from the mirror the file extension is changed to 'gtar'.
The sha256sum is correct. However the firmware upgrade page says the file must be a 'tgz'.

I am using Debian Sid to download the file if that is relevant.
      What should I do?

Tried a different mirror and was able to download with correct extension.
It seems that in some mirrors the files have the encoding "application/x-gtar" while others have encoding "application/x-tgz".
        Keeping fingers crossed :)

if sha256sum is ok, rename the file.
