      Hello,

I have Pfsense 2.0 RC3 I386 running my home network, it not real complaicated but too much to rebuild from scratch. I would like to do a clean install of 2.0 release, but at this time I do not have access to a Monitor to use, my box runs headless and I do all my config from the web gui. I have two questions: 1. is there a way to scripted my conf. into a 2.0 release ISO so I can do an unattended install? 2. is there a way to connect using a remote console, I know the machine will be dead with a formatted drive but I was wondering if the install has drivers that are loaded to do this, so the system can be setup from a remote console. Any other suggestions would be appreciated, I do have backups of my current config.

      Thanks

Can that machine use a serial port? You could do it that way. I don't know if there is a way to script the install.

          you can try:

          • remove packages

          • restore to defaults

          • download full update to pfSense disk

          • upgrade via ssh

That was my first thought, but my laptop doesn't have a serial port only USB, HDMI and Firewire. So that won't work. But a good call, thanks for your input.

Wounldn't this be the same as an update? I would like to do a clean install. Am I missing something?

Updating from default install to default install. almost the same as clean install for me.

my sucessfull upgrades(1.2.3 and 2.0RC) are:

                • remove packages

                • download full update to pfSense disk

                • upgrade via console

As you do not have local console I've changed this to ssh.

give a try, it will work.
