Well the problem is really weird, i have a production PFSense over a ATA HDD.
I decide to change de HDD from a ATA to a SATA, using the latest SNAPSHOT (18.03).
Booting from the live CD work fine, installation to the new SATA drive goes perfect no problem.
At the end when the machine boots up the screen fills with numbers that runs two fast, its not a normal boot up.
I mean the screen shows like a NEO screen but without the green font :).
I have the same problem a fews ago with a diferent hardware all intel with a server entry level motherboard.
Does someone have a solution for this???

      Regards to all

        Hi,

i have the same Problem on Intel Boards E7221, the MATRIX is comming after the Installation.
Different BIOS settings are not effective. I have sampled all PFSENSE seetings from the documents (sullrich - boot Problems and so on..). It is not a problem between SATA an PATA, it is a problem with a HDD-Geom. and the AMI Bios.

Also we have sampled a SATA 80 GB Barracuda 7200.9 and the the same as PATA. The Matrix is coming on both situations. Also the AMI Bios on Intel Server Boards is not really preety….

We have now sampled with the servers over 3 days, and we haven´t a solution not yet.

        Greetings from Germany

          Hello,

now it rocks! We have changed the HDD from Seagate Barracuda 7200.9 (80 GB) to Samsung SP4011N (40 GB PATA). We did not change anything in the BIOS from Defaults. I loaded the newest RELENG Build and all runs fine.

The Seagate 7200.9 SATA and PATA runs definitely not with the Intel Board E7221 and Pfsense.

You need to use another HDD.
          Greetings
