      I know this port works because I had all things working with DDWRT a few days ago.

      What am I doing wrong?

      Thank you very much

        You had created a wan nat rule with lan address destination.

        change destination to wan address.

        Internet -> wan address:2222 -> nat -> 192.168.1.28:2222

          It looks to me like the reason it was not working was the source port specified as 2222.  The source port should not be specified, just the destination, right?

            Yes, source port is not usually known. It is normally any (1024 to 65535).
