PfSense boxes up for auction on eBay starting at 99 cents.

  • Hope I'll be forgiven for advertising an eBay auction here.  I don't really like the idea of the scrap heap, especially for gear that's still serviceable for many uses.

We've virtualized a bunch of stuff including, finally, a bunch of rock solid VPN/routing/etc gear.  The old platforms were some really nice Intel ISP1100's, slightly various configurations, but typically something like an Intel PIII-850 850MHz CPU, 256MB-1GB of RAM, and a modest IDE drive, along with a quad ethernet, giving the platform six 10/100 ethernets.

So I just want these to get to decent homes, hopefully, but I also need an audit trail of their disposition.  So: Up for auction on eBay at 99c plus shipping.  Since it's actually taking me some time to open, verify everything's working, and load pfSense onto them, it's certainly not going to be profitable, but we don't have the space to store them.  So if you're looking for something that's cheap, costs less than a 60 watt light bulb in electricity, and helps to keep toxic elements out of landfills or wherever computers go when you give them to the electronics recyclers, here's your shot.  We're offering them on a 90 day warranty, so no worries about getting a busted up unit.

and others as we get them prepped.

If anyone knows of charitable causes (schools, whatever) that could use one for free, contact me via private message and we can make it happen as long as they can provide a receipt.
